Certified translations

As the name suggests, a certified translation is a translation with a closing formula provided by the translator together with the signature and official stamp of the sworn translator. With the closing formula, the sworn translator indicates that the translated text is a true and faithful representation in the target language of the original (or a copy of the original) appended text.

Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators
According to the Dutch Sworn Court Interpreters and Translators Act (Wbtv), which came into force on 1 January 2009, a certified translation may only be issued by a translator who is entered in the Register of Sworn Interpreters and Translators (Rbtv). There are strict requirements for registration, particularly with regard to education and training.

Apostille or authentication stamp
The translator must also be sworn in by a Dutch district court and be registered at one or more district courts. The signature of the sworn translator can be authenticated, if necessary, at these district courts, by placing an apostille or authentication stamp on the document. Should you require this, we can attend to it at an additional cost.
