Legal translation

Looking for a legal translator?

Lusitaal Portuguese Translation Agency is highly specialised in translating legal documents. Naturally, good language skills are a requirement for the translation of a legal document, but they're not enough.

You also need a thorough knowledge of both the Dutch and the foreign legal systems. Take for example procedural documentation from a court or a notarial deed.
Legal texts are often complex and difficult to comprehend so you need a translator who is knowledgeable and experienced in such matters. I'm a sworn translator, so I can deliver official, sworn translations.
The documents I translate include:
  • Notarial deeds (for example mortgage deeds, wills, certificates of inheritance, proxies and prenuptial agreements)
  • Contracts (such as purchase, employment or commercial contracts)
  • Civil registry documents (such as extracts or copies of birth, marriage or death certificates or extracts from the municipal personal records database)
  • Procedural documentation (such as official reports, court rulings or settlements)
  • Business documents (such as statutes, memoranda of association, proxies or export documents)
  • Health and safety and environmental legislation.

I have a certificate in Legal Translation in Criminal Proceedings – Portuguese from the SIGV (Association of Court Interpreters and Legal Translators).
